Fashion & Beauty

Fashion is in every pore of our lives no matter how little aware of it we are. Fashion is not only the clothes we wear - it is the way we see the world. The way we communicate, what we eat and even more so what we cook; fashion is flowers in our garden and lipstick on our lips.

Fashion is just an amazing way of celebrating the diversity and variety of the world which we live in. It is change which is necessary to keep life interesting. As well it is a way of measuring a mood that can be useful in many different aspects ,culturally ,socially even psychologically.

It is certainly not everything in life but it is part of everything. Even people who claim that they don't care what they wear, choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day.

One certain thing in the fashion world is change. Music, TV, movies, have great impact on fashion. It always comes down to our personal style - the way we combine wardrobe in order to serve our needs and our lifestyle.

Clothes are always revealing, not only of our mood and lifestyle, but also of who we are. For me, styling was always a way of communicating with other people. I dress myself up, because personality isn't the first thing people see.

Fashion is also an amazing way of celebrating the diversity and variety of the world we live in. It is change which is necessary to keep life interesting. Also, it is a way of measuring a mood, which can be useful in many different aspects, culturally, socially and even psychologically.

Even if you say you don't care about fashion and don't dress to make a statement - you are making a statement ( that you don't care about fashion ).  We frequently hear that we don't need much money to look good. I must agree with that because the market provides many possibilities to look great at no great cost.

As Karl Lagerfeld stated in his fashion therapy -

"Don't use expensive clothes as a screen for your personal doubts. Be proud of yourself and not only because you wear expensive designer clothes. They are great, but lots of people are happy without them. You come first, the clothes later. Reinvent new combinations of what you already own. Play with it. Improvise. Become more creative, not because you have to, but because you want to. Evolution is the secret of the next step."

The only rule I obey is "Styling from the inside out". There shouldn't be a chasm between our perception of who we are and reality - the way people see us.

Fashion Therapy is the practice of dressing with a purpose, the purpose of expressing your authentic self, which will elevate your mood and promote a healthy self-image. The key element of Fashion Therapy is to create such a wardrobe, which will express your personality in a good way.

It is important to take your perception of yourself as well as the perceptions of others, to encompass both and balance the two. Neither one is wrong nor right. Like in everything else in life, the goal is to reach harmony.

One very interesting thing about fashion that specially amuses me, is the way we feel in our own clothes. There is a whole new level of fashion therapy based on what you wear daily. Like "clothes for special moments" Forget about special moments and wear you silk pyjamas every night, your sexy underwear every day, wear you nicest clothes as much as you can . That is the way to feel better in your own skin- make very day special for yourself. Fashion lets you do it!

The way you dress reflects the state of mind you were in this morning in front of the mirror. We do choose our clothes for comfort and functionality, but quite often we choose them based on the way we feel and our mood at a certain moment.

An experiment with British women showed that there is a difference between our "happy"  and "bad mood" outfits. Happy women prefer to wear well cut, figure - enhancing clothes made from bright and natural fabrics, whilst bad mood gravitates towards baggy tops and loose clothes without form in darker colours.

According to a clinical social therapist Heather Quinlan, besides reflecting our mood, clothing choices may reflect how we feel about ourselves. If we are not really self-assured and if we are not happy with our body image, we are more likely to choose clothes which help us hide our body and to wear something in which we don't have to invest much effort. The more satisfied with our body image, the more flattering and noticeable the outfits we will choose.

The great thing about fashion is that it can really help you feel better about yourself and boost your mood. Next time when you wake up in a bad mood, try to avoid the impulse to put on baggy clothes and an old jumper, and go for something bright and more funky. Remember, bright clothes equal bright future!
